Costs that come in two new forms.

  • Sustained (Passive) / Repeated (Active)
    • Character pays additional, and in oftentimes a different amount, of AP to sustain or repeat the ability.
      • ...no actual difference between sustained and repeat, really?
    • This, as well, also comes in two forms:
      • Prompted
        • Sustained (Passive)
          • As the duration of the effect is about to expire, or passes a check, the character is asked if they wish to sustain the effects by paying the sustained AP cost.
            • Fortitude places a special shield around the user that reduces the damage of 1 hit. As the shield is about to be broken after damage is dealt, the user is asked if they wish to keep the shield up by paying additional costs, or let it break.
        • Repeated
          • As the character receives a turn, the character is asked if they wish to repeat the effects by paying the cost.
            • Song abilities puts the Bard in a state of music. Each time their turn comes around they can either sing another note or exit the state to do something else. Singing again has minimal costs, but starting the stance has higher.
      • Automatic
        • Sustained (Passive)
          • As the duration of the effect is about to expire, or passes a check, the effects are sustained if the costs can be subtracted. If not, the effects are ended. For effects with high sustained TP costs, this could potentially lead to the character never receiving a turn. It is up to the ability in question whether or not the character can cancel its effects manually or not.
            • Final Defense places a special shield around the user that reduces the damage of 1 hit. After damage is dealt, so is the sustained cost. If the costs cannot be payed, the shield is finally broken.
            • Combat Ready increases DeviantArt@7Soul1 - Assertive Physical 2DeviantArt@7Soul1 - Assertive Magical 2 by 150%, and costs 20AP/turn.
        • Repeated (Active)
          • As the character receives a turn, the costs are payed and the ability is used again. If it cannot, the mode is ended.
            • Dance abilities puts the Bard in an uncontrollable state of dance. Each time their turn comes around they will dance another step, if the costs can be payed. If not, the mode is ended.
  • Reserved
    • A portion of the character's maximum AP/HP(/TP??? (maybe by always subtracting the additional cost when TP is to be subtracted???)) is reserved for the ability. As long as the mode is active, the character is treated as having a lower maximum than they actually do, but the effects stay true. If the reserved effects are ended, by deactivating the mode or otherwise, the character regains their maximums (but not currents).
    • Only comes in Sustained (Passives) form. Because Repeated makes 0 sense.
      • Inspire increases all allies' DeviantArt@7Soul1 - Assertive Physical 2, but reserves 20% of the user's AP.
